Nick got in touch with me about shooting his engagement in Telluride at Bridal Veil Falls, last spring. It was a year of heavy snow and when I got to the road that would have taken me up to the falls, it was closed. I had my husband with me because I knew there would be a little hike involved and he’s my favorite person to have with me on adventures. He also has an excellent sense of direction and I had never been to the falls before. We put on our backpacks and set out to make our way (4.8 miles!) up the path toward this location where we’d be waiting for Nick and Sarah. We got about 5 minutes up the road when a man in a hard hat approached us and told us that we had to turn around. It didn’t pan out for me to be there to capture the engagement, but Nick proposed later that day and Sarah said yes!
Fast forward a few months later… They chose me to shoot their wedding, and I’m so grateful they did. Their day was beyond special. I had a smile on my face all day long witnessing the support of their community, as well as the deep and apparent love Sarah and Nick have for each other.
In addition to their being wonderful, kind and caring people, their wedding was absolutely, stunningly gorgeous! From the details of their reception decor to their incredible ceremony arch, everything was a dream to shoot. Their ceremony and reception both took place at Milston Well Farm in Longmont, Colorado (Now the Boulder Farmhouse). Somehow, even though I was there from the middle of the day into the evening, when I look at these photos, it seems like golden hour lasted all day. The canopy of the trees mixed with the radiant happiness of the lovely couple makes everything seem to glow.
It was fun to travel to a different part of Colorado, to the Front Range, for this wedding. I have another one on the Front Range this fall and I’m looking forward to it.
When I think of the kinds of couples I’d love to work with, I think of Nick and Sarah. Thank you for the opportunity to shoot your special day! I’m so happy for you.
