2020 Year in Review

I know I'm not alone in so many of the feelings that came with the circumstances of this past year. There has been so much uncertainty and trepidation as we first learned about the virus, as we navigated stay at home orders, as we made decisions about what was safe. I have been incredibly fortunate to maintain stability and health, as has my family, and I don't take that lightly.

While this year was challenging for me in ways that were universal for most of us, there were a few really lovely things that happened for me. Exactly one year ago today, my husband and I moved into the home that we spent 3 years building, here in Ridgway Colorado. Being in our own space with our two kitties has been absolutely incredible!

Another huge and awesome life thing that happened: in July, I quit my part-time job to focus solely on photography. My business blossomed! My calendar has been full with family and couples sessions, elopements and weddings. A lot of my work was running all over Telluride with couples and families, but I got to create all over the Western Slope - Ouray, Ridgway, and Silverton! I even made it to Boulder and Denver for a weekend to shoot a small wedding, and to do a portrait trade with the amazing Shelby Perez. (Check out the very last photo in this post. She took that!)

Without the amazing humans who worked with me, this growth would not be possible. I love making beautiful images, but I also absolutely adore creating for YOU! Looking at all of these photos has my heart feeling so full and I am grateful beyond belief. Focusing on my photography business has meant that I have time to look at where I am with every aspect of it; I get to ask myself how I can do better, and set goals. I'm so excited to see what happens with it in the next year! Working on my creative pursuits full-time has been a dream of mine since I was very young. And seeing that materialize has been beyond amazing.

There were two very unfortunate and heartbreaking incidents that took place for me as well. I can't look back on 2020 without honoring them. My heart is mending and probably will be, to some degree, forever. I know that eventually I will feel like there is some sort of takeaway for my soul, from these experiences. I haven't quite figured out what that is yet. For me it was a year full of learning about how to navigate life productively, while healing.

For now I am choosing to reflect on the glimmering beauty that I had the honor of witnessing, these past 365 days.

Please enjoy some images from 2020!
