When Cynthia and Dan asked me to be their wedding photographer, I knew that being a part of their day would be a unique honor. I met both of them when we were all working at The Kitchen in Boulder a few years back. I always had a sense that both of them were such wonderful humans.
Cynthia left The Kitchen while I was working there to pursue her degree and career in counseling, and Dan later went on to become the general manager of The Kitchen in Denver. And Cynthia now has a private practice as an integrative psychotherapist! But flashing back in time, the first sparks of their romance started on the back stairs of The Kitchen, on Cynthia’s last day working there. Dan asked her if she’d like to hang out some time, and she said yes.
Flashing forward again to 2020 after years of dating, falling in love and adopting their sweet pup BB… Cynthia and Dan’s original wedding plans, to celebrate with family and friends, changed due to pandemic-related challenges. They ultimately decided on a family-only mountaintop wedding ceremony on Bald Mountain Scenic Area outside of Boulder.
Their ceremony was so incredibly sweet and personal. Cynthia told Dan that he matches her, recounted how after their first date, he kissed her on her cheek. And Dan recited a poem he had written for Cynthia, including imaginings of them many years in the future, still in love and happy together. I definitely teared up while listening to their vows (and tried not to fog up the viewfinder on my camera!). It was really special having met them before they started dating, and getting to watch them recite their vows to each other on top of a mountain, on such a beautiful day in August.
After their ceremony, we headed to downtown Boulder, for photos of Cynthia and Dan on the back stairs of The Kitchen, where their romance was first kindled. Cynthia, Dan and their families then enjoyed cocktails and an epic multiple course meal at the amazing Arcana Restaurant, also in Downtown Boulder. The photos of Cynthia and Dan sitting in the turquoise booths were taken in the restaurant. The booths had skylights above, which always makes for such gorgeous lighting.
Cynthia and Dan’s Boulder wedding was so gorgeous. I hope you enjoy these photos as much as I do!

This was the second year in a row that I made a trip to Boulder for wedding photography. I love working in southwest Colorado, but am more than down to travel! I already have one Front Range wedding booked for 2021 and can’t wait. If you’re interested in working with me, let’s connect!
